One Piece: Why didn’t Whitebeard avenge Oden’s death?

Publicado por

Kozuki Oden was a treasured companion of Whitebeard, but he did not go after Kaido to avenge his friend’s death. This acceptance seems odd coming from the same One Piece character who moved an entire fleet to save Ace at Marineford. Whitebeard has the strength to take on Kaido, so why did he let Oden’s death pass without taking action?

The relationship between Whitebeard and Oden

At first, Whitebeard did not want to let Oden join his crew, but he was convinced by the samurai’s perseverance. After the two traveled for so long together and became great friends, Oden became one of Whitebeard’s commanders. However, they went their separate ways when Oden left with Roger’s crew.

Oden’s adventures at sea ended after Roger became the Pirate King, so he returned to Wano and never met Whitebeard again. Arriving in Wano, Oden saw that his country was being controlled by Kaido’s tyranny. He fought Kaido to free Wano, but was eventually defeated and killed in this battle.

Why didn’t Whitebeard fight Kaido to avenge Oden?

Since Wano is a land isolated from the rest of the One Piece world, Whitebeard learned of Oden’s death a few years after it happened. It was obvious that he, Marco and all his friends were shaken, but Whitebeard could not simply start a war against Kaido.

A war between two Yonkou would be catastrophic and would endanger the lives of the citizens of Wano that Oden fought to protect. In addition, the lives of Whitebeard’s crew would also be at great risk in this war. As difficult as this decision was, Whitebeard did not go after Kaido because he knew the risks it would bring to Wano and his comrades.
